- SYED AHMAD JAMAL
Dato' Syed Ahmad Jamal was born in Bandar Maharani, Muar, Johor in 1929. He received his primary and secondary education in the Malay and English medium respectively in Johor Bharu. His higher education was gained abroad - Chelsea School of Art (1951-1955), Institute of Education, London University (1955-1956), School of Art Institute Chicago (1963-1964) and University of Hawaai, Honolulu (1973-1974). Dato Syed Ahmad Jamal, the Malaysian National A rt Laureate, has won acclaim and prizes locally and internationally. He won 1st prize in the Johor Art exhibition (1950), Summer Competition - Chelsea School of Art London (1954), Federation Art Competition - Kuala Lumpur (1962), and the National Bank of Malaysia Mural Competition. Dato' Syed Ahmad Jamal has contributed greatly towards Malaysian Art - in his teachings, writing and role as art curator, his service as as board member and committee members of art related organistions, particularly that of the Malaysian National Art Gallery. For his vast contribution, Dato Syed Ahmad Jamal was awarded the National Art Award in 1995 by the Malaysian Government, which honours him as a National Artist.

2. AWANG DAWIT AHMAD
Awang Damit Ahmad was born in Kuala Penyu, Sabah in 1956. He studied fine art at UITM (School of Art and Design of UITM) and was chosen as the best student in 1983. He furthered his studies in painting at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC in 1988 and was awarded a Master's Degree in Fine Art in 1990.
Awang now lectures in fine art at UITM. He has held positions as the Curator of the Art Gallery and Head of the Fine Arts Department before being appointed an Associate Professor in 2000.

3. REDZA PIYADASA
He was born in 1939 in Kuantan, Pahang. Early education at Sekolah Abdullah, Kuala Lumpur from 1945 to 1956 and received the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (Grade One) in 1957.
From 1958 to 1959, he resumed his studies at the Malayan Teachers' College, Brinsford Lodge, England and received a 'Certificate in Education' from the Institute of Education, University of Birmingham, England. Continued his studies at Hornsey College of Art, London, England from 1963 to 1967 to be awarded a Diploma in Art and Design (UK) Upon his return to Malaysia, he worked as gru in the School of Art and Design, recently established as part of the University. [1]
He then underwent Post-Graduate Studies at the Art Department of the University of Hawaii, at Honolulu, Hawaii from 1975-1977, majoring in Art History Asian Studies and Graduate Studies Sculpture before awarded a Master of Fine Arts Degree (MFA) In addition, Piyadasa also a Graduate-Student Participant Culture Learning Institute, East-West Center, Honolulu from 1975-1977 which finally give the award Graduate Certificate of the East-West Center
Among his top achievements was awarded the "Prince Claus AWARD" in 1998
In the 60s and 70s, Redza Piyadasa responsible for introducing the field of art criticism seriously, in the time that almost no debate on the subject of history or art criticism in Malaysia. His contribution in the field had a great impact on the art historical homeland. Through his writings nor works of art seem, Piyadasa examine the context of art and its relationship to the restructuring of the traditions and the arts.

4.ABDULLAH ARIF
Abdullah Arif was born in Penang in 1904 He was a self-learned artist and is an art teacher at the Anglo-Chinese School, Penang (now known as the Methodist Boys School). In 1920, there were no local arts groups and arts groups organized only at the time of European expatriates (mostly English housewife) who refer to themselves as "Penang impressionists".
